Every home has a fire detector, yet water is responsible for significantly more home insurance claims than fire. To provide property owners peace of mind, KOHLER launched the H2Wise home water monitoring system. This smart product combined a water monitor with an intuitive app that allows users to manage their water use and get real time alerts when water usage spikes, say in the instance of a leak or burst pipe. The app even allows for remote water shutoff, having the potential to save a home or property from catastrophic damage. It's a powerful product with a meaningful story to tell. The challenge was doing so in a way that focused on simplicity and ease of use, rather than fear mongering or getting lost in the complexity of how the system actually works.
